Valparaiso is home to some of the most amazing street art in the world. You'll find all kinds of graffiti lining the walls around every twist and turn. Spray painted, stenciled, old, new, vibrant, edgy, scary, decorative, cute — you name it, you can probably find it!
After I wrapped up my overlanding trip through Patagonia, I went to Valparaíso, Chile for two days to see for myself!
There is literally art around every twist and turn, so if you’re like me, you’ll be stopping to take picture (or ten!) about every two feet.
While some of the art is huge, some of it is small. Like this little image I found painted near a staircase. That’s one of the things that makes a trip to Valparaíso so fun — there is so much to discover.
Some of the art is decorative, some of the art is truly graffiti, and since new pieces are always being added and subtracted, no two trips to Valparaíso will ever be the same.
Valparaíso at a glance
How to get there: Valparaíso is easy to get to from Santiago — I travelled by bus, which took about one hour.
Where I stayed: I stayed at Pasta e Vino B&B, which was upstairs from a very cute café. It is not a hotel but rather a very comfortable room with a bathroom along with a couple other similar rooms on the upper floor of the building. Travellers looking for other travellers may not like the solitary environment but it was perfect for two nights. Pilcomayo 491, Cerro Concepción, Valparaíso, Chile
Where I ate: I had such a great meal at Café Vinilo that I went back for a second time! I highly recommend it. Almirante Montt 448, Valparaíso, Chile
To see the art: I grabbed a free map and wandered around!
